Frequently Asked Questions
We have a ten-year-old child, are they allowed to go?
To ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable trip we ask that you only bring children that are of age four and older. Also, please keep in mind that you may want to limit your trip to ½ day when smaller children are on board. We will be much closer to shore on the shorter trips should you want to return early.
We have never been deep sea fishing before. Will someone show us how to fish and use the equipment?
Yes- the Captain or mate is there to assist you throughout the day. He will show you how to use your rod & reel, hook your baits and some common techniques for bottom fishing. He will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
What happens to the catch at the dock?
The crew will unload your catch and clean your fish. If you would like to have your trophy mounted, please let us know so that we can arrange with the local taxidermist. All billfish are catch and release only. Measurements will be taken to ensure your mount is as accurate as possible.
Do we need a fishing license?
No, we supply your fishing license, rod, reel, bait, tackle and safe transportation to and from the fishing grounds.
Do you guarantee we will catch fish?
There is a reason why they call it "Fishing" rather than "Catching!" However, we endeavor to do everything possible to ensure you have a safe, enjoyable and productive trip. We strive to earn your business and keep our customers happy so that they will return to our docks year after year.
Is it customary to tip the crew? If so, how much?
Tipping should be based on the service you receive rather than the amount of fish you catch. Hey, you are the angler (person), right?
When deciding what to tip, you should consider Was the Crew Courteous? Were they helpful throughout the day?
Rates?
Our reserved trips accommodate four adult anglers. We fish all day for $1250 and a half-day for $625.
On the West Coast of Florida, a full day will put you from 30 to 50 miles offshore. This is in proximity to many of the various reefs, wrecks, and hard bottoms that encompass the west coast of Florida in the Gulf of Mexico.
A full-day trip can be as long as 8 to 11 hours from Tarpon Springs depending upon how productive the day has been, sea conditions, and the condition of the passengers.
A half-day on the West Coast of Florida is a trip that usually returns around noon. It is primarily a good trip for Kingfish, and Spanish mackerel. It is also recommended if there are smaller children in the party.
No Rules Charters out of Cudjoe Key only during the months of May and June. A full-day from Cudjoe Key or Key West is 7 to 8 hours as the time to reach the fishing grounds are much shorter. A half-day returns at noon.
